the good news is that it should be relatively straightforward to code

that looks almost exactly like what i was thinking - though its using the session to store the key, which means its likely more short-term than you are thinking

basically, the logic is allowing the user to “submit” the form but not mark it as complete, so when they hit submit it returns them a unique hash (this can be a URL as well) that they can return to later

but the keywords i remember were “partial submission”
