Apparently even Sage Line 50 has troubles calculating tax correctly (though I can't clarify that, it is just something I have been told)

yeh, its basically a nightmare - because then add staff discounts and shipping and the whole thing becomes a fudge, and they are already complaining that the site is slow due to the current VAT calculations
I don't use SilverShop though, so I dunno, I was just scanning the code...
And I guess add a custom modifier to try and make sense of it all?

OrderItem::updateCalculateTotal() in conjunction with a custom tax rate?
