your IDE should be able to run unit tests "on file change" if they're fast enough
I would like to achieve a continuous integration workflow and not have to install TravisCI on a different machine than the one I work with, for economic purposes.
what are you trying to achieve, exactly?
As itself is a virtualizing hosts, you end up in an Inception style matrioshka
however I fear that it would not work very well in virtualized environments

What is the best way to use travisCI locally? docker image? vagrant box? don’t use travisCI locally?
