One would have to be the server (or you have a separate oAuth server).
You could do oauth.
otherwise you authenticate against some central server (Facebook, google, etc) and have each of your sites auth against it

Requires the member to exist on all instances
JWT is the only thing I can think of, because it's stateless. Otherwise, it would be cross origin cookie reading
hey, are there any guides on setting up common authentication between silverstripe sites? (ie having the same login/pass across multiple sites, without using subsites)
