If there are no API changes between 4 and 5, I'd question why the module maintainer felt the need to bump the version up at all.
yes - but if there are no API changes in 4 - 5 then why would it be a bad approach?
But to answer your question:
^4 will give you "> Version 4.0.0 and < Version 5.0.0"
Id' say no that is not a good approach. Unless you really want to be supporting that very wide range of cms/framework versions

pretty broad - may not always work - but also not unnecesarily restrictive and then choose recipe-core or recipe-cms depending on what it does ?
four a SS4 module ( a little one ) is that not a good approach?
Maybe the question is - how do I get: 4.* ... any tag at SS four, but nothing below or above ...
yeah - ^ means - anything higher or equal to ... ~ means anything higher or equal to a specific point, but if you specific 4.3.1 - is that not the same as [email protected] ?
