we're aware of the higher complexity 😕 unfortunately it was the trade-off for getting up to new standards that has come in

I guess it depends on what version you are coming from but RC1 -> RC2 was just as simple as updating the recipe entry in composer.json for me e.g "silverstripe/recipe-cms": "1.0.0-rc2".

yeah, if possible that'd be ideal if possible ss4 relies on composer quite a bit
