but slightly less likely as one of the biggest changes was namespacing all the things which ss5 won’t suffer from

Im just wondering if anyone knows about SS5. Yes I know im ahead of the game, but im just wondering if like the SS2->SS3 and the SS3->SS4 move, the code changed fairly considerably, will a similar thing happen with SS5??

hey adrian, you can give SS5 a test run at any time - it's the master branch of all the core repos. by definition it's a breaking change release, so there will be some things that need to be changed while upgrading - we're hoping to automate as much of this as possible with the upgrader tool though. you can check out the as-at changelog here: https://github.com/silverstripe/silverstripe-framework/blob/master/docs/en/04_Changelogs/5.0.0.md

They may even make it into SS4, nothing is breaking, we just needed to use that as a polyfill module for older SS versions although haven’t actually made the core PRs yet though 😆

I've assumed everything this module is doing are going to be part of core in 5: https://github.com/silverstripe/silverstripe-security-extensions

my guess is there will be some more changes to themes, more stuff will get React-ified.. more elemental related stuff, hopefully not too many regressions
