r3v3rb

no _ss_envir legacy site using _config.php

Joe

nothing at all in the apache error logs?

Joe

even when I have SS handle logging itself, I’ll at least get something in the apache error log as well

Firesphere

Most commonly, what I've seen, is the .htaccess file(s) got mangled

Joe

@r3v3rb you can add something to _config.php like this to log to a specific directory:

  1. SS_Log::add_writer(new SS_LogFileWriter('../logs/ss.errors.log'), SS_Log::ERR, '<=');

in which case the logs directory would be in the root of the site

Joe

just make sure the apache user can write to that folder

Joe

@Firesphere wouldn’t a mangled .htaccess result in a 4xx error though, rather than a 500?

Firesphere

A mangled .htaccess would mean Apache can't read it and just instantly dies
