Thanks so much for your advice! I think this is definitely one of those areas where my little bit of knowledge is a dangerous thing & leads to mass paranoia!!!
Oh OK I'll download it quick then! There are 2 such files & there is most probably personal data in the one that is clearly an sql export!!!
OK. According to what I have read though, using FTP is like opening a gateway direct to the underworld!! As is using http without the s on the end. So maybe some sites are overstating potential problems by not explaining fully enough!!!
OK. I guess I'm just trying to work out if all the reading/learning I have done has made me overly paranoid about security/safety or if that would be a "normal" thing to do!!
OK, valid point. What's wrong with using scp to transfer it then? That is how most websites seem to advise moving things on and off servers when git doesn't suit
I do (sort of) know the person. There's just a few things recently that have been making us feel a little anxious
Yeah, I know it's a bit of a loaded question! 🤣 Like, why wouldn't they just share it via Dropbox?
If someone sends you a link that looks like
http://ip.address/filename.tar.gz does that mean that anyone could access the file and take it? Would you consider it insecure/dangerous?
nooooo you spoiled the perfect number!!! 😢😜
Quick! Disable the star button so it can stay on 666!!😈 😈 😈
