I'm looking at Raygun right now, for instance. There's no split.
In my experience, docs are docs.
I've not seen another product that splits its UX help with its developer docs. Can anyone show me one?

We do conduct a yearly community survey which is what we use to make these decisions more data driven. The case of content authors using dev docs is asserted through that data.
My feeling is, docs are docs, and the domain split is over aggressive.
